Trip Report [hide]
The usual suspects got together on a beautiful Sunday morning for some ice climbing. Peter and I had never been on waterfall ice and Charles and Fabio were only slightly more experienced. Brian and Chris were the seasoned ice climbers among us.
Brian guided us to Hidden Falls a short distance up Wild Basin in Rocky Mountain National Park. The falls were a little thin and portions of them were pretty fragile. Nevertheless we were able to find an area on the right side where we could thrash around without doing too much damage.
We each took a couple of laps and practiced placing screws and making v-threads along the bottom of the falls.
The weather was really nice and we spent as much time jokin' around and hangin' out as we did climbing. It was a nice change to have such a mellow day in the hills.
